Since version 11 ", MacBook Air 13" vintage 2013, adopting Intel Haswell processors, opts for independence rather than power. A wise choice for a dedicated mobility Machine choice.
As every year, Apple has revamped its line of ultraportable computer: MacBook Air. This year, the transition to the new generation Intel (Haswell), which marks the 2013 vintage. It also benefits from the arrival of new SSD more efficient.
Many of the observations made on our test model 11 inch (MacBook Air 11 "2013) remain valid for the 13-inch model we test here. The design of the machine does not move, does not surprise, but still does not disappoint .

Always on familiar ground
The MacBook Air 13 "2013 still offers a pleasant and contemporary design that is based on a rigid frame latter has proven its strength and rigidity in a footprint of 32.5 x 22.7 x 0.3 -.. 1 7 cm and a weight of 1.35 kg, we find the same connector as the previous models (vintage 2011 and 2012). latter consists of food (MagSafe 2 here), two USB 3.0 ports (one on each side of the machine), a mini-jack audio output, a Thunderbolt port and its size of 13 memory card reader. "authorizes its implementation.
The same goes for operating an ergonomic backlit keyboard dimmed, and a multi-piece touchpad. The effectiveness and ease of use are always appreciated.
A lack of change in screen
Big asset to us on previous generations of MacBook Air 13 "screen, with its definition of 1440 x 900 pixels, not the brand a little over competitors. Apple offered a better definitions of the screen for a machine a diagonal of 13 inches. But today's Full HD (1920 x 1080) generalizes the notebooks of this size and Apple has decided not to move on this. yet the manufacturer has the know-how its Retina display which equips the MacBook Pro 13 "and 15." is it a choice not to compete with his own bands and technology she is too greedy to ensure autonomy extraordinary? Still, this definition of 1440 x 900 pixels still is very comfortable to work.'s shiny screen and no option to switch to a matte always disappoints.
The choice of autonomy
In designing its Haswell processors, Intel has sought to maximize autonomy while ensuring a high level of performance. The race for power was not valid. The American founder had clearly explained during the presentation of its latest generation of processors. A philosophy adopted by Apple and is reflected in the new MacBook Air. Like its little brother 11 "model 13" explodes the criteria of autonomy seen so far. Advanced by the specifications, up to nine hours to 11 inches and up to twelve hours for the 13-inch values to find in reality. The results of our test are sometimes beyond. All simply stunning. Video playback of an HD movie (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off, and its brightness to 50%), MacBook Air 13 "(version 2013) does not exceed the values" manufacturer "as the 11" but is equally with a little less than 11 hours. Enough to hold a full day's work "normal". This is exceptional, but the trend for autonomy is on the rise. All laptops with the latest Intel processors now move more than eight hours of use.
Performance: no more, no less
Apple is the MacBook Air 13 "in two basic configurations that differ only by the capacity of the SSD, 128GB model for € 1,099 and 256 GB for that to 1299 €. They share an Intel Core i5 dual core processor 1.3 GHz (the same as the model 11 "), an Intel HD 5000 integrated graphics, 4GB of memory Vice (RAM) DDR3 and Bluetooth connectivity (4.0) over Wi-Fi and the latest generation 802.11 ac backward compatible. It must be that your system is able to provide (via a new router for example). However, Apple offers to customize through a series of options: Core i7 dual-core processor at 1.7 GHz, passage 8 GB of RAM.
So, not surprisingly, found the performance of the MacBook Air 11. "No significant increase in performance. As we have already mentioned, Apple prefers to maximize battery instead of playing the race for power . An objective fully achieved. Geekbench test the machines positioned between 6500 and 7000 points at the previous generation. A power that does not penalize the machine, as it is sufficient for the mobile use which is intended MacBook Air. Office, Internet browsing, multimedia, publishing (photo, video, audio ...) light there can be seamlessly account. The machine turns responsive and efficient as desired. No need to fear on this side.
MacBook Air 13 "2013 benefit as 11" new SSDs and hardware interface change in their architecture. Again, the model 2013 meter test block Disk Speed Test.
Autonomy record performance levels, design and ergonomics always nice ... The MacBook Air 13 "displays the same strengths as its little brother, while offering a slightly larger workspace. Yet it is at this level that the Apple 13-inch Machine sin a little in our eyes. By opting for greater definition (Full HD or those that allow the Retina technology), MacBook Air 13 "2013 would have succeeded almost faultless. A small gap that deprives the machine of choice of writing (Editor's Choice). As part of an ultra mobile computer, the MacBook Air 11 "2013 wins.
